Toni Wiley, Executive Director of Sportsmen’s Tennis Club
Toni has been a consultant and board member at STC since 2003. Most recently
serving as Executive Director of One Family Inc., Toni brings nearly 10 years
of non–profit managerial experience, combined with over 15 years of executive
experience in the corporate sector. This includes positions with Jane Doe Inc.,
the MA Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, the Partnership
for Excellence in Jewish Education, TJX Companies, New Balance Athletic Shoe
Company, Digital Equipment Corporation and Stride Rite Corporation. She has
also consulted with the United Way of MA Bay, among others.
Ms. Wiley’s unique blend of corporate and non–profit experience
make her an excellent choice to lead Sportsmen’s Tennis Club, a
community–based non–profit club serving Boston’s
low–income and minority neighborhoods for nearly 50 years. She holds
Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees from Northeastern University
in Purchasing and Management, and maintains a Federal U.S. Customs Brokerage
license. She resides in Dorchester, just minutes from Sportsmen’s Tennis
Club. |

Sidney
Cooper
Sidney is the Director of Tennis
and has been coaching and teaching
at the Sportsmen’s Tennis
Club for over 20 years. He has
served as New England National
Team Coach for 10 years and
was the Recipient of the Freedman
award for outstanding contribution
to junior tennis in the New
England Section. He was the
recipient of the Governor’s
Committee on Fitness and Sports
“Neighborhood Superstar”
award. Sidney was inducted into
the New England Tennis Association’s
(NETA) Hall of Fame in 2003.
He is USPTA certified and a
USTA member. |

Joseph
Taylor
Joe has been coaching tennis
for 10 years and is a principle
instructor and coordinates the
Little tennis after school programs
at Sportsmen’s Tennis
Club. He coaches in the USA
Programs and currently coaches
the Sportsmen’s adult
women’s travel tennis
team. Joe is USPTR certified
and a USTA Member. |

Balty
Galloway
Balty has been teaching tennis
for 29 years and has been teaching
at Sportsmen’s for 10
of those years. He currently
coaches with the Sportsmen’s
“A” adult women’s
travel tennis team. He was head
pro for 17 years at Couples
Hotel Resort in Jamaica before
moving to the United States.
Balty is USPTA certified. |

Robert
Amartey
As a junior tennis player, Robert
compiled an impressive record
in his native country of Ghana.
He was named to the Junior National
Team in Ghana and played International
Federation Tournaments. He was
named to the Davis Cup representing
his country of Ghana in 1989.
He currently teaches at Sportsmen’s
as an instructor in all development
programs and one of the top
coaches in the advance programs.
Robert is a USTA member of Tennis
Coaching Association. |

Nigel
Griffith
Nigel attended Nick Bollertri
Tennis Academy and played on
the tour for three years. He
was National coach for New England
Zonal for two years and Vice-President
of the ATA from 2002-04• He
coordinates the Excellence Junior
tennis at Sportsmen’s
and has been at the club for
16 years, coaching many top
players in New England. Nigel
is USPTA certified. |

Banks
James is a Coach Instructor
and has been working at Sportsmen’s
since 1999. He was the Coordinator
of the Little tennis summer
program from 2003-2005. He coaches
Little tennis and USA tennis
in weekend programs. He is also
an educator in the Lexington
Public Schools. James is USPTR
certified. |

Hajji
Glover
Hajji has been coaching and
teaching at the Sportsmen’s
Tennis Club for 18 years. He
has been the Director of Tennis
at the Charlestown Community
Center for the past 7-9 years.
He coaches part–time in
the weekend programs while also
teaching private lessons at
Sportsmen’s. He played
collegiate tennis for the University
of Massachusetts, Boston. Hajji
is USPTA and USPTR certified. |

Hameen
Edwards
Hameen developed his coaching
skills at Sportsmen’s
Tennis Club. He attended South
Carolina State University on
a tennis scholarship. He is
currently a principle coach
in the Excellence and Challenger
advance programs. He also teaches
private lessons at the club. |

Tony
Franklin
Tony developed his tennis and
coaching skills at Sportsmen’s
Tennis Club. He is currently
coaching Little tennis and USA
tennis weekend programs at the
club. He also works with children
ages 5–18 during the school
year on Saturdays. Tony is a
certified Pre–school teacher
and has been in the Boston Public
School system as a Special Education
teacher for over 5 years. |

William
O’Rourke
Bill has been playing tennis
since the age of 4 and is one
of the most recent additions
to the Sportsmen’s Tennis
Club. He has coached with the
Mercier Competitive Edge Tennis
along with USA Tennis player
Development Competition Training
Centers for top 12–14
year old boys and girls in New
England. His involvement with
junior level tennis players
is in the areas such as mental
toughness, nutrition, and strength
and conditioning. Bill is a
USTA member. |

Troy
Chrichlow
Troy is an acomplished graduate
of the Sportsmen’s junior
program. He took his talents
to Georgetown University on
a scholarship and graduated
in 2004. He is Vice–President
of the USTA/Eastern Massachusetts
Diversity Committee. He coordinates
the Advance Challenger junior
tennis program at Sportsmen’s.
He was the first junior player
inducted in the NETA Hall of
Fame. Troy is a USTA member. |
